Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday night - it was wonderful to see you! I really enjoyed playing that set. The setlist is at the bottom of this post (I've remembered which songs they are now!)
Here's the full recording of Renegades - enjoy!

Really thrilled to be playing at The Stage Door pub this evening along with The Lancashire Hustlers and The Midnight Recyclers!
The address is:

SE1 8QA London, United Kingdom
(Find the Old Vic and keep walking down Webber Street, past the Stage Door lamp that's the actual stage dooe for the theatre, and the pub is at the bottom of the road at the junction!)

Playing alongside a lot of lovely food tomorrow at Willesden Flavour Market, St. Andrew's Church. The market runs from 12:30, I'm due to be playing from around 2pm for about an hour. If the weather's like it is today it'll be perfect for some gentle acoustic tunes outdoors!
This weekend I'll be playing:
:EDIT: I've just heard that Flavour Lounge is being Cancelled this Sunday due to the weather - it may be happening the following week but I'll let you know!
So excited to be playing at the 25th Folk and Blues festival tomorrow!

Over the winter I had the chance to record some vocals for Calling for Serenity, a project raising awareness of mental health issues. The songs are due to be released soon as an EP and you can check out the thinking behind them here. This is something I feel strongly about and anything that helps promote dialogue and acceptance is a good thing in my view. It was also great for me personally to have the opportunity to record in a completely different style to what I'd write myself, and work with musicians of different genres.
I particularly like what Rob's written on the About page -
We’d like to help contribute something towards a world where people who speak about mental health aren’t considered “brave”, but simply that being open about it is normal and accepted as something people can do freely and without judgement.
I had a great time at Wallington Music Festival on Saturday - here are some of my photos from the afternoon. If you've got any photos you can tweet me @annesumnermusic or post them to the Facebook page -
I'm going to be at the Bandstand (Wallington Library) at 2pm rather than 4pm - hope you'll all be there nice and early for lunch and drinks and (hopefully!) sunshine!
Back at the end of May I had the chance to play a pop-up gig at the BAR Gallery in Willesden Green organised by St. Judd who had provided a "stage" complete with fairy lights, stool, and foot log - all a great acoustic night really needs ;) I played alongside Michael Soakell and Tom Blackwell - please check their links, you'll be glad you did!
I had never been to the gallery (or Willesden Green for that matter) - it's a great space and a hive of activity supporting all kinds of creatives. When we were there they were between exhibitions so the walls were completely bare and that gave it a great, responsive sound - which meant I got the chance to change up the set list I'd been planning (given that I knew we'd be unamplified) for some more sensitive material. It was a beautiful sunny evening and such a great experience play live right up close with this who came to listen.
Set-list in the end was:
- all available to preview here.
I've put some photos below and there's a whole gallery by Beatrice McGuire to see on Facebook too.
I'm going to be playing a set at the inaugural Wellington Music Festival this Saturday. I have one of the final slots at the new Bandstand (Wellington Library) around 4pm. Event page is here. Hope to see you there!
Tonight I'm going to be playing from 8:30pm at the Red Cow Pub in Richmond - great pub just down the road from the tube/rail (and they serve amazing food too!)
I've played there a couple of times at open mics so here are a few pictures of what to expect and there's a handy map at the bottom!
Hope to see you there :)
Going to be playing a set at the St Judd night next Thursday - the FB event is here.
This will be a completely acoustic night with some others including Michael Soakell.
It'd be great to see you there :)
Going up on the Lyrics page now... I played this last night at the Stage Door open mic.
(Paper fans will recognise a nice bit of Claire Fontaine Seyes-ruled for the background :D Probably my favourite paper, not that easy to get your hands on here but I have a stash to keep me going!)
I played a short set in the music night at Lime Meadow Acoustic Folk & Blues club on Friday 10th April. It was a special event for them and a great turnout - some great music featuring Pete Robson and a great variety of regular guests.
Chris from the club always does these great comical write-ups and his assessment of the night is here.
I was going through my song notebooks today (doing an idea audit as I think it's time to start writing some new songs!) and found the original of Solid Ground from when I was writing it, complete with scribbles and re-ordering of verses ;) Think I may add this to the lyrics gallery...
One of the plans I've been working towards for this site is to have hand-written lyrics up for all the tracks from These Hours and then start to add a bit of information about the songs and how they came about.
I probably need to play around with sizes and so on but the first couple of songs are up and you can see them here.
I have quite a bit of updating to do here - been playing a fair bit and have quite a bit to say about gigging in general and London open mics in particular. To start off here are some pictures from the inaugural open mic at the Red Cow in Richmond, which has been up and running for several weeks now and as I understand it has been getting better every week! This is being run by Audio287 - check out their site for a whole host of recording and editing services; they record the open mics too and if you perform you can get the live recordings afterwards. The Red Cow also does spectacular burgers which are half-price on a Thursday, so you can enjoy your food and some great live music at the same time!
The pictures are Emily and Rob (who opened the night) and Michael Soakell, with some from my set too.
Audio 287 are hosting an open mic at the Red Cow in Richmond tomorrow night.
Here's the link - and the FB event page
I've been playing semi-regularly at Lime Meadow in Sanderstead and one of the hosts, Chris, writes these great blog reviews of the club nights. This is the latest one from last Wednesday. They have a lively crowd of regulars and an increasing number of visitors and the quality and variety is always brilliant.
There are some more photos and mayhem on the club's Facebook page.
